Maybelline Baby Lips

Hello!! Now I'm sure everyone reading this has heard about baby lips by Maybelline. When i first saw them all over Americans youtube/blogs i could not wait for them to arrive over in the UK, which seemed like forever. When they first came out they were overly hyped, and i everyone seems to be in two minds about them so i had to try them for myself.

I first bought, just one to try and see if i liked it as i did have the thought in the back of my mind "its just a lip balm" which essentially exactly what it is but the little child in me was drawn in by the fun packaging. The packaging is, lets be honest a little tacky, a little in your face and child like but i think that's why i like it. The bright coloured packaging and fun scents are different to your average lip balm. When i was a kid the big thing was chap sticks, which were scented balms very similar to baby lips.

The first one i bought was "Pink punch" as it looked like the most pigmented one out of the 6 on offer.  Its a nice pink, not overly pigmented but just enough to give a little tint to the lips. Then i thought i wanted a clear one and ended up with "hydrate" and "mint fresh" "Mint fresh" is my favourite scent of all, it also has a little tingle like feeling and when applied to the lips like all the babylips it feels water like and glands on really smooth, not like other lip balms that can be quite hard and tend to drag on the lips. "Peach kiss" has a lovely nude tint, not completely nude that it cancels your lip colour, but more like a nude sheer gloss and looks really lovely for a every day lip. "Hydrate" I guess it supposed to be hydrating? this one has lemon scent and i like to keep this one next to my bed and apply it in the morning and night.

I like the Babylips for a little twist on your average lip balm. Are they moisturising? for a small amount of time yes, but are best suited for dry lips not cracked lips. At £2.99 a pop they are a fun little product to throw in your bag even if they don't last the stated 8 hours, they are a fun product to apply throughout the day.

  1. I have seen Baby Lips everywhere too and like yourself, the packaging is pretty, fun and appealing. Thank you for posting this, it is nice to read a not so 'hyped' review on them and I think I'll give these a miss.. after all, nothing beats my Carmex and Nivea Pearly Shine.

    1. I can imagine if you already had very dry lips they wouldn't help. I suffer with really dry lips in winter but they seem ok at the moment and i find applying hydrate before bed and in the morning it actually helps my lips a little x

  5. :) I've never tried them, but I get really dry lips so I'm not sure if this would help out at all.

Can I ask what camera you use? I'm looking for one and I really like the quality of your pictures :)

  6. I love Baby Lips! I have the red one. Not sure what it's named, but I love the tint and how soft it makes my lips feel.
