I'm constantly raving about Revlon, i love the brand and "most" of their products and over the last year or so they have bought out some great lip products i.e the lip butters and kissable lip stains.
As always the UK is behind on getting new products and we always see American bloggers/youtuber's reviewing things first then waiting for the release in the uk. I have seen mixed reviews some people love them some hate.
When i first heard about the colour stay ultimate suede my first thoughts were that they were basically the lip butters that stained, how perfect? Or not....
The colour stay ultimate suede lipstick claim to be long lasting and moisturising to the lips. They have added Shea butter and aloe and are apparently food proof and do not transfer. Starting off with the more positive things. The packaging is OK, its a clear tube which makes its alot easier to see the actual colour of the lip colour which i think is great. When turning the bottom to push the colour up it does two clicks into place and then just opens like a normal lipstick, im not sure why it clicks? maybe there is a reason but i do not know?
The colour selection is great there are 20 shades but like always my little boots had about 5 and i picked up the colour "Womenswear" which is a nice dusty pink and i do really like the colour its not too pale and not too bright the perfect pink for me. When i first applied the colour its very sheer and will take a few applications to get a deep colour but is very build able. The texture when first applying it is like Revlon say its instantly moisturising however this doesn't last long in fact after long wear its the opposite. If you have slight dry lips this will sink into all the dry bits which is never a good look.
OK i hate to be a negative Nancy but I have to be honest! At first glance these look amazing you swatch them they stain your hands, nice colour selection and seem to be moisturising, and you may think "hey lets buy 5" as most of us bloggers do but hold fire and just try one. After a few minuets of being on the lips they turn into a sticky nightmare! I'm not a fan of sticky lip gloss but if you are then these will be your best friend! It actually feels like your lips are sticking together and really got on my nerves i constantly wanted to wipe it off or lick my lips, tap them together to try and get away from the stickiness but it didn't help, i was really aware of it. After the stickiness eventually goes away it turns really drying on the lips and then on the inside of the lips it wears off.
There is no denying that they will last you a few hours, the staying power of the colour stay ultimates is good and will last longer than a normal lipstick but wont look great after a few hours wear. Also they are transfer resistant when you eat drink or kiss it will not wear or transfer another plus.
Overall i like the colours, the staying power and the fact they are transfer resistant. I do not like the dreadful sticky texture and the dryness these lipsticks cause, especially for a "moisturising lipstick" and for the current £8.99 price tag i think there are better lip products from Revlon and i will not be buying another in the near future.
Have you tried these yet? What are your thoughts?
